My Story I’m an active person. I walked in two 60 mile three day events. I rode my hybrid bike 200 miles in the Pan MA challenge. I had been practicing yoga on and off for about five years, a little more off than on. I found lots of reasons to be inconsistent. I had to travel for my job, I had other hobbies, a husband and home to care for. In my “on” periods, I contemplated taking a teacher training program. I even inquired about programs from Maine to Rhode Island. But life always got in the way.
My path finally crossed with a yoga teacher who inspired me. I enjoyed practicing with her and the other yogis. I realized that if I waited to start my training until conditions of life were perfect, I’d never get started. When I practiced, I felt good in body and spirit. I wanted to commit. So I selected a school, closed my eyes and jumped. With my eyes open, I completed my 200 hour teacher training at Franklin Yoga and Wellness in June 2011.
In addition to studying and teaching yoga, I am a master sumie painter. I’ve studied since 2006 with Jan Zaremba, whom I consider to be a US ‘National Treasure.’ The dream that launched my yogic path was to teach a yoga and sumie painting workshop.
My yoga instructors include top local yoga talent: Gurautma Khalsa, Betsy Barry, Cathy Mann, Marilyn Scanlon, JoAnn Laliberte, and many others. I learned such valuable lessons from each one of them which guides my teaching now.
I’ve discovered that I love putting my practices together and working with beginners, maybe because I’m still close enough to that point to remember what it feels like. If you’ve read this far, I have to ask, what are you waiting for?
